The Litchfield Recreation Commission has a few events planned. Please help spread the word about these events. As always, volunteers are welcome and needed!
Thank you for your continued support.
October 21st: Winter Fest Meeting.
This will be our 1st Winter Fest planning meeting. This is a big event and we are looking for volunteers to join the Winter Fest Committee.
- Next WinterFest Mtg: November 25th @ 6:30pm - Town Hall
Please contact Keith Buxton firstname.lastname@example.org or Colleen Gamache email@example.com if you'd like to join the WinterFest Committee
November 23rd: Sports Equipment Swap.
Litchfield Rec. will be holding an equipment swap Nov. 23 at Talent Hall. It's a great chance to get all of your no-longer-needed sports equipment out of your garage or basement and put a few dollars in your pocket. For anyone looking to purchase new equipment this is a chance to find whatever you need without spending lots of money on brand new items that will be used for a season or two.
UPDATE: Drop off for items will take place Fri. (11/22) from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm and Saturday morning from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Any recreation or sport items are allowed (Ski equipment, baseball, basketball, golf, pickleball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, football, rollerblades, even bikes and jogging strollers)
There is a $10 fee and all proceeds from sales go to the individual seller. Or, if you prefer, the $10 fee will be waived and all proceeds will go to Litchfield Recreation. All unsold items will need to be picked up by 3:00 pm. After 3:00 all items will be sold by the Recreation Commission, donated or discarded.
We are looking for a few volunteers Friday evening and Saturday to help check-in equipment, set up tables, and collect money from sales. Please email RC@LitchfieldNH.gov" If interested.
To reserve a spot or for more information please post on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/events/1426384287575668/ or contact LRC.Buxton@comcast.net.
Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28th): 1st Annual North vs. South Turkey Bowl.
We are putting together a Thanksgiving morning town-wide flag football game. This will be open to all residents of Litchfield. The teams will be Litchfield North vs.s Litchfield South.
There is no cost to play, however, we ask that you bring a canned good or non-perishable item as a donation to the Litchfield Food Bank.
This flag football game is meant to be fun for everyone. Anyone who signs up will play!
10 years and younger will be entered into football challenges and be awarded prizes based on age! Run, punt and throw!!!
Sign up here:
We will play 9 on 9 flag football (though we may adjust up or down slightly pending on how many players).
-Start at your own 5 yard line. 4 downs to reach the halfway point then you get 4 more downs to reach the end zone.
-You can go for 1 or 2 extra points after a touchdown. 1 point from 5 yards out and 2 from 10 yards out.
-No contact! No tackling! No blocking down field after a catch
- I've seen way to many people get hurt. All blocks will be penalized and the play will be down at the spot of the block.
-No arguing calls. Don't be a sore loser.
-Defense may rush after 3 count and will get 1 blitz per 4 downs.
-Quarterbacks (Must change after every touchdown)
Thank you to Jason Allen for presenting this idea to the LRC and helping to organize it.
February 14/15/16: Winter Fest Weekend
This will be the weekend for Winter Fest. Activities will start on the evening of the 14th with a Parent's Night Out / Kid's Bingo & Movie Night and continue at least through Saturday night. There is a strong possibility that we will continue into Sunday this year as well. Again, we could use help with the planning for this event.
- Check back for updates
- Volunteers are needed!!
If anyone has any questions/concerns about any of these activities or would like to volunteer please contact the Litchfield Recreation Commission - firstname.lastname@example.org
